New Years resolution?

Do New Years resolutions work? I don't believe so. In fact, I think more people fail with a resolution that has a time restraint on it. Did you make a New Years resolution? In all my years, I have never made one.

Growing up as a Catholic kid in the Bronx, I used to try to give up something for Lent. Every year, I meant well and gave up candy. Then, I would walk past Danny's Candy Store in the Bronx, and in I would go. I felt like a sinner, but I had my chocolate fix for the day and soon got over it.

I try to do goals instead because they are easier to work towards then something you say will do but won't get to

Last year I made a resolution to pay off my mortgage before the end of the year. It was paid in full by October. Still can't believe I actually did it. No resolutions this year.

I think goals are much better! Resolutions tend to be made to break. Just try to make each day better and help those who need our help.

I don't make resolutions. However, I do make small monthly goals - little things that are specific, like "I'm going to plan the family dinners a week at a time for the next month". Slowly fostering good habits, and slowly breaking bad habits. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

we were raised that resolution were a marked of failure and we were raised not to become a failure,, we work for what we do and if we dont then we dont means there was a better thing for you. It is like the say when one door shut a better one will open for you..

Nope, don't work. Many years ago I made some resolutions and never followed them. I've given up on the things.
